SKUNK

September 3, 2014 by Tessie van Hintum

directed by Annie Silverstein/

SKUNK still 01
Raised by a single mother on an isolated subdivision in rural Texas, fourteen-year-old Leila’s deepest connection is with her pack of rescued dogs. When her beloved pit bull is stolen by an aspiring dog fighter, Leila is forced to stand up for herself, at the cost of her own innocence.

“I am drawn to working on coming of age stories. I’ve just finished spending a good chunk of my life working with young people, so I’m not sure that these are the only stories I will want to tell, but certainly what I am doing right now is just kind of working with some of the experiences I’ve been a part of. I’ve also been interested in working with people who don’t see themselves as actors but who are still interested in participating and who have had access to these stories as part of their own life experiences.”

– Annie Silverstein, director of SKUNK
