Teddy

July 23, 2012 by Tessie van Hintum

Teddy
It’s Christmas Eve and little Catherine awakes to find her favorite Teddy preparing to go home for the holidays.

“I had private investors, but it wasn’t a major production, it was just kind of done on the sideline. That was what kind of drew me to animation to begin with, but I like the hands-on feel of animation, that kind of – well the animation I do is stop-frame animation, as opposed to CG, which is the Pixar/Dreamworks animation that is so huge at the moment. And stop-frame for me was also – I don’t consider myself an animator, I’m a filmmaker, so I like to put things in front of the camera, and light them, and I have that opportunity with stop-frame. I made characters, and I could actually place them in front of a lens, and shoot them in a certain way, and put them in sets as opposed to just fiddling around inside a computer to generate characters and scenarios, etc.”

– Michael J Rix, director of Teddy
